Experience the perfect balance between the advantages of personal training and the affordability and motivation of group exercise! In this class you will become familiar with gym equipment, learn proper techniques and develop a personalized fitness plan you can continue on your own outside of class. This class is appropriate for all levels as you will work at your own speed, intensity and ability. Trial membership at the KV YMCA is included for the 8-week session.

Introduction to Karate

In this four-week course, students of a variety of ages and abilities will be introduced to Goju Ryu Karate, including the language, philosophy and physical techniques. By learning traditional, non-competitive methods of karate, participants will benefit from improving fitness (balance, coordination, flexibility, strength, etc.) and the fostering of the mind-body-spirit connection. For ages 15 and older.

Take your walking to the next level by using poles. Adding poles will incorporate the upper body and core, increasing your heart rate without noticeable additional effort (and can decrease pressure on your knees and ankles)! Learn the basics and practice the techniques with four walks on different trails. Suitable for all fitness levels. Requires walking on uneven terrain. (Poles will be provided.)

Tai Chi for Health - THU AM, Augusta

This is an easy-to-learn form of tai chi that focuses on healing, relaxation and improving mobility and balance. Medical studies have shown that practicing this program helps improve the control of diabetes; improves flexibility, muscle strength, heart and lung function, posture and balance; and increases one’s ability to relax.
